The Washington Post

Magazine Cover & Spreads

This article talks about how the red party tried to pass a bill that would deny transgender minors the right to healthcare. They did this so they wouldn’t be able to get the necessary procedures done that these people need to feel comfortable in their own skins. I think the idea of denying healthcare to anyone is immoral and I wanted to show that through my design. On the cover, I illustrated a red elephant stomping on a “trans lives matter” sign. I applied a glitch effect to the entire cover to show the viewer that something is wrong with this story. On the inside of my magazine, you will see an illustration of protesters. This shows all the different people who would be affected by this law. On the second page, I illustrated the supreme court building to show who is behind this law. I used the same colors and background from the cover to spread to show consistency throughout my design.
